Weekly Photo Challenge: Renewal

Trafalgar Square lions

Lion Pride

Remember doing this when you were a kid?

I remember Daddi taking me to see the Trafalgar Square lions for the first time when I was 7 years old. They were like a mystical public toy that just blew my mind. Since then I have climbed them as child and adult; alone or in the company of friends, family and strangers; at all times of the day; and during a number of events.

I love their solidity; their sense of history; and the fact that generations of children and adults have clambered on and over them just for the sheer joy that the activity generates. Since they were set up in 1868, they have witnessed the city changing and expanding and yet day after day, they continue to bring joy to a new group of people.
