Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond

room overlooking the sea

Contemplative Space

In the last five years, I have been introduced to package holidays – in total contrast to my usual “have rucksack, will travel” approach. This has developed into an interest in the architectural designs of hotels and how they are decorated: mostly manifesting itself in my ever-growing photo collection of lights and lighting.

These lamps drew my attention and it was during my attempts to try and capture their beauty and its contrast to the ceiling that I discovered the room that you see beyond.

I thought it very generous of the hotel to provide its guests with a quiet room – particularly one overlooking the part of the complex leading down to the sea’s edge. The view seemed capable of lifting the mind out of its usual funk and sending it floating out over the cool, calming water of the ocean.
