The Listening Booth: Week #6

“Remember on our first date? You kissed me and you walked away.”

Hello and Happy Friday to you, dear reader.

Welcome to Week #6 of The Listening Booth. To participate, share your thoughts on this week’s selection or submit your answers to the song lyric quiz and music trivia quiz questions in the Comment Box below.

Answer to last week’s song lyric quiz:
Title: West End Girls
Artist: The Pet Shop Boys

Title: Love Shack
Artist: The B-52’s
Album: Cosmic Thing

One of those songs that “everyone” knows and can’t help but sing along to.

Title: Help The Poor
Artist: B. B. King
Album: King of the Blues

Blues. Done by someone who LOVES it. That’s what makes the difference between what is good and what is great.

Title: The Shining
Artist: Badly Drawn Boy
Album: The Hour Of Bewilderbeast

A restful piece of music that I am more than happy to stick on repeat. It makes me melt.

Title: Hazy Shade Of Winter
Artist: The Bangles
Album: Less Than Zero

Girls with guitars and rocking out. It still sounds so good.

Title: Yentl Medley (Where Is It Written? / Papa, Can You Hear Me? / Will Someone Ever Look At Me That Way? / A Piece Of Sky)
Artist: Barbra Streisand
Album: The Concert

The music to the film Yentl is astounding. And Barbra can blow. This live rendition gives me shivers and has found me giving a private concert of my own whenever it is played. (Sorry, neighbours)

Title: Looks Like We Made It
Artist: Barry Manilow
Album: The Songs 1975-1990

Rousing and poignant.

Title: Sho’ You Right
Artist: Barry White
Album: The Collection

One of my very favourite Barry White songs. Gets me dancing around the room – even if I have to sit down to do so.

Title: Good Luck (feat. Lisa Kekaula)
Artist: Basement Jaxx
Album: Kish Kash

A powerful vocal over some quality beats. This song reminds me of fun times had with friends and has spent many years being part of my preparation routine for a night out.

Title: God Only Knows
Artist: The Beach Boys
Album: Pet Sounds

There’s just something about this track. The sunshine sounds and harmonies forever speak of summer to me.

Title: Intergalactic
Artist: Beastie Boys
Album: Hello Nasty

This one is just too much fun.

Now it’s YOUR turn. Aural pleasure or just a load of noise? Share your thoughts on this week’s selection in the Comment Box below.
