Weekly Photo Challenge: Escape

Travelling Again

Last week I went on a four-day travelling trip – my first such trip in over a year! Chronic illness tends to curtail such adventures, but seeing as my illness hasn’t been as scary over the past month, I decided to treat myself and dragged my sister to Siena (Italy) to see a church.

This may not seem like much, but the duomo (cathedral) was something that I had to see for myself. And as I sat on the plane, there was such excitement – and relief – to be travelling again: to be able to take the opportunity to go and see some of the wonders that this world has to offer.

We had a mighty fine time and travelling with a wheelchair added new dynamics to the whole experience. But I can say this much: watching the sunlight dance along the clouds felt so, so GOOD!

  1. Wheeeeeeeeee! This deserves one MASSIVE BIG HIGH FIVE, sister! I am so pleased and excited for you that you managed to get all the way to ITALY and back with your chronic illness. Heck, some perfectly “normal” people can’t even manage to successfully get the bus from one side of Canberra to the other!

I would truly love to hear a much longer post about your mini adventure….
