I do so love the great outdoors.
There is something about being immersed in nature that just coaxes me to
take a deep breath …
and let go …
I guess that’s why I have always been drawn to travelling. The abundant time and space it provides to explore the world about me, is delicious beyond words. It’s like playing truant with permission!
And as I have done most of my travelling alone, I have spent countless hours in solitude; wrapped in the ever-embracing arms of landscapes that made my heart rejoice and set my imaginative juices drooling until I had filled page after page with thoughts, impressions and musings.
So when I stumbled upon this little scene in Manapouri (New Zealand), I had to take a snap. It just seemed to embody that feeling of taking time to absorb your surroundings.
For me, that’s the best thing about travelling in general and the great outdoors in particular. There may or may not be a plan, but I can take time: with myself and for myself.
