Dear Mum & Daddi,
 
As I age, I gain a clearer perception of you as people; a better understanding of the seriousness with which you undertook your role as parents; and a greater appreciation for the efforts you put into raising your children.
 
And now, as I sit writing this on the other side of the world from all I know, I am filled with wonder at the courage and the care you showed in your parenting: for I am here because of you.

Rapture

I have become a bedtime letch: a groping, many-limbed thing that smothers you with caresses and disturbs you as you settle to bed; climbing over and around you for indeterminate periods of time before finally snuggling into the soft point in your neck, placing my lips a little lower down and falling into a quiet slumber.
And it is customary that I do this now: I must perform this little ritual nightly else I am unable to sleep peacefully.

The Linguist

I don’t remember how old I was when my father began to teach me about the world. I only remember it as ‘something that has always been’.

Whereas other children climbed onto their father’s knee to be regaled with Alice’s adventures and other assigned age-appropriate reading material, I was given The Rise and Fall of the Human Empire – a lesson in the importance of being earnest.

Milestone :: 3 Months

Dear Lovely People,

Today, mightwar is 3 months old!!

Now some people would consider that I am getting ahead of myself, but this is a milestone I intend to celebrate.
 
After 549 days of suffering an affliction that mystifies medical professionals, I finally became able to put pen to page about my experience. I put Muffled up on Facebook and Mr. T (my brother from another mother) suggested that I “share” my writing. On 24th October 2012, he sent me the link to WordPress and I entered into a whole new world that I was unaware even existed!
